This week, Michigan Tech’s concrete canoe team is heading to the national competition in Pennsylvania. 23 teams of engineering students from schools across the country and as far away as Shanghai, China, will come together to compete for “America’s Cup of Civil Engineering” at the American Society of Civil Engineers’ 27th Annual National Concrete Canoe Competition. Throughout the year, 207 teams of civil engineering students logged thousands of hours researching, designing and constructing their unique concrete canoes in a quest to create the winning combination of creativity, knowledge and teamwork and advance to the national competition. The event will take place at the University of Pittsburgh in Johnstown from June 19th to the 21st.
