The unofficial start of summer is Memorial Day weekend, and the Department of Natural Resources says camping reservations are up 12% over last year.
Even with the increase, the DNR tells residents there is still plenty of sites still available across the state.
Currently, the DNR has 645,000 camping and lodging nights booked through this season.
They anticipate more than 1 million camping and lodging reservations by the end of the 2016 season.
