The National Weather Service has confirmed two separate tornadoes touched down in western Marquette County yesterday.
The first tornado touched down near the Marquette and Baraga County border; with the second near CR-four-seventy-six just south of the Greenwood Reservoir.
Just after 2:20 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Tornado Warning for parts of Baraga County and Marquette County. The warning was extended for Marquette County until 3:45. According to the national weather service, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Lake Michigamme prompted the weather warning. Schools in Marquette County were on lockdown throughout the warning.
Damage is still being investigated, but no injuries have been reported with the storm system.
