MI-TRALE Awards Scholarships To Local Students

MI-TRALE (Michigan Trails and Recreation Alliance of Land and the Environment) on Tuesday May 17, 2016 awarded scholarships to five deserving students from the Ontonagon High School and the Ewen-Trout Creek High School. Usually only one student per school is selected but this year MI-TRALE wanted to do more for our future community leaders.

Eligibility for the scholarship included a grade point average of at least a “C” average and at least 10 community hours through an organization or offered as an individual.

These senior students wrote an essay which included:
*Volunteer services provided and why selected.
*Career choice and why selected.

In addition a resume’ was requested containing at least the following information:
*Their course of study in high school and subjects taken toward their career choice.
*Activities they participated in during high school both in school and outside school.
*Their long range career goals, financial need, and pertinent information helpful to the scholarship committee.
*Community service years or hours.

This year’s recipients for the MI-TRALE Scholarships of $100.00 each went to: Ontonagon High School Students; Paige Blake and Karlie Seid and Ewen Trout Creek High School Students; Jenna Hash, Lana Lind and Landon Maki.

MI-TRALE wishes each of the scholarship recipients the very best in their future education and encourages each to meet and exceed their future goals.
