Economic Slowdown Expected

The states economy is slowing down but we are not headed for a recession.

That is one of the story lines we expect to see later today coming out of the revenue estimating conference at the State Capitol.

If analysts are right, the state has about a $400 million deficit.

The former head of the House Fiscal Agency says lawmakers can eliminate the deficit before the end of the year by cutting spending, using the rainy day fund or raising some new revenue.

Mitch Bean says the economy is slowing down, but adds we are not headed for another recession.
