Abandoned Mine Waste Project Open House

MI Department of EQThe Michigan Department of Environmental Quality invites the public to an informal open house to learn about the project findings and next steps for the Abandoned Mine Waste Project.

The focus of the Project is the investigation of mining-era chemical containers and residues historically discarded in or near Torch Lake.

The event will be held at the Lake Linden-Hubbell High School Auditorium on Tuesday May 17th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

Work to date has included a review of historic studies and on-land and in-lake investigative activities.

Project staff will be at the open house to provide information and answer questions. Some of the investigative equipment will be displayed, along with project area maps.
