Lake Trout Fest Survives Rain

The Baraga County Lake Trout Festival recovered from an hour of steady rain, and went into the books as another successful event on Saturday. The extended shower came after the conclusion of the Pequaming Run and Half Marathon, and pretty much wiped out the Tour da L’Anse bike events. By noon, the heavy rain had stopped, and crowds came out to enjoy the craft fair, sidewalk sales, live entertainment and kids’ activities. 12 girls competed in the Little Miss Superior pageant. Cassie Zasadnyj was named second runner up. Addison Dompier was voted first runner up. Isabella Holma was named Little Miss Superior, and was voted Miss Congenialty by her fellow contestants. 112 teams fished in the Keweenaw Bay Classic Tournament, which returned more than $12,000 in cash prizes, and several thousand dollars’ worth of additional door prizes.
