Names Released in Motorcycle Accident

Police have identified two Keweenaw residents as those killed in a crash in Ishpeming yesterday afternoon. 64-year-old Gary James Kappler of Ahmeek and 52-year-old Diane Palosaari of Mohawk were struck at the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and U.S. 41 while riding on a Harley Davidson that was hit by a Ryder truck driven by a 19-year-old Ishpeming man. Police report that neither Kappler nor Palosaari were wearing helmets. The truck driver was uninjured in the crash. The incident is still under investigation pending toxicology tests taken from all involved.
