Miguel Cabrera powered the Detroit Tigers to a 7-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics last night. Cabrera had four hits, including two home runs, to back another solid outing from Jordan Zimmermann. Victor Martinez also homered. After snapping their four-game losing streak, the Tigers host Oakland again tonight. Mike Pelfrey will start against Rich Hill. Tigers outfielder Tyler Collins has apologized for flipping off fans in the center field bleachers who booed him after he misplayed a fly ball during yesterday’s game.

In the playoffs last night, the Blues eliminated the Blackhawks with a 3-2 victory. The Predators downed the Ducks 3-1 – that series is tied at three wins per team.

In the playoffs last night, the Thunder advanced with a 118-104 victory over the Mavericks. The Trailblazers beat the Clippers 98-84, and the Hornets edged the Heat 89-85. Each of those series is tied at two wins per team.
