The number one cause of wildfires in Michigan is people.
That’s why the Michigan DNR is offering tips to avoid them during this Wildfire Prevention Week.
The DNR’s, Bryce Avery, says so far , so good.
Avery says you should get a burn permit before burning any yard waste.
He advises keeping the fire small, and having a shovel and water available at all times when you are burning.
He also says don’t burn on dry or windy days.
