Woman Charged In Death Of Pelkie Man

New information is being reported regarding the death of Pelkie man whose body was found near the old Tiger Stadium lot in Detroit.

The Detroit News reports that 33-year-old Shayla Deneice Tucker has been charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death, a 15-year felony.

The body of 35-year-old Paul Pesola, Jr was found around 6am Saturday, April 2nd, near the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Trumbull.

Earlier reports from the newspaper also described an accident reported at the scene around five hours earlier but police said at the time they were unaware of any fatalities resulting from the accident.

Police say Tucker was speeding on Michigan Avenue when she hit another vehicle which then struck Pesola with enough force to throw him over an eight foot fence into the lot.

Tucker was taken to a hospital for her injuries and later arrested.  Pesola was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detroit Police Homicide Department conducted the investigation and the charges were filed by Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.

Tucker is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, April 8th at 10:30 am.
