Tax Filing Season – e-Filing is the Trend

It’s tax season, and a spokesman for Michigan’s treasury department says the earlier you file the better.

Terry Stanton of the state treasury department says people who file early and do it by e-file could see their tax return, if they’re getting one, within 7 to 10 business days.

While those who file by paper should expect a 10 week period, but it could take longer if there are any mistakes.

Stanton says the trend has been toward e-filing with 80 percent of state returns filed electronically last year.

But for those who prefer putting pen to paper, all the necessary forms are available online at michigan.gov/treasury.

This year’s filing deadline is April 18th.
