Governor Lays Out New Flint Action Plan

Governor Rick Snyder has laid out a new action plan to help Flint recover from its water crisis.

Highlights of the plan include a pilot project to replace 30 lead service lines out of the gate and plans to partner with the city to remove more lead service pipes.

All water faucets and fixtures in public buildings will be swapped out too. And communities in Michigan would be required to follow a stricter lead action rule than what the feds have laid out.

There’s no timeline to create the new water standards above the federal Lead and Copper Rule.

Another big picture goal is to confirm that all kids in Flint who have high levels of lead in their blood are receiving the proper treatment.
