Houghton's Major Repaving Project Takes Another Step Forward

The Houghton City Council is moving forward with a major repaving project that requires a $628,000 loan from the USDA.

The project includes east Sharon Avenue, most of Razorback Drive, and the central portion of Seventh Avenue from Franklin Street to Garnet Street.

Other smaller sections throughout the city will be repaved as well.

The 15 year bond would be paid out annually from the local street fund, but by doing all the work in a short period of time, City Manager Eric Waara said the city will be saving money.

At their regular meeting Wednesday, the council also scheduled three upcoming Budget Work Sessions.

The dates are April 20th, May 4th, and May 16th.

All meetings will begin at 5:30pm and are open to the public.
