In boys high school basketball action last night…
– Houghton couldn’t hold an early lead, and lost to Ishpeming 57-47. The Gremlins led by as many as 17 in the first half. See video highlights of the game here.
– Jeffers routed Republic-Michigamme 76-32. The Jets sank 14 three-pointers, and had four players reach double figures in scoring.
In girls play tonight…
– Lake Linden-Hubbell hosts Calumet for Parents Night.
– It’s Parents Night at Jeffers, as the Jets entertain L’Anse.
– Hancock plays at Chassell.
– Dollar Bay-Tamarack City welcomes Ewen-Trout Creek.

Both Michigan Tech basketball teams wrap up their regular seasons tonight at home against Northern Michigan University. The women’s contest starts at 5:30, and the men’s game at 7:30.
GLHL
The Portage Lake Pioneers and the Calumet Wolverines play tonight. Face-off is at 7:30 at the Colosseum.
NHL
The Detroit Red Wings are off until Saturday night’s outdoor game against the Avalanche in Denver. Face-off is at 8:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY. The Wings and Avalanche alumni will play on the outdoor rink tomorrow night. Face-off is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons took an early lead, and cruised past the Philadelphia 76ers last night 111-91. Tobias Harris led the offense with 22 points, and Andre Drummond grabbed 18 rebounds. The Pistons visit the Bucks Saturday evening.
MLB
Former Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo has signed a free agent deal with the Baltimore Orioles. It’s a two-year contract worth 22-million dollars, with a club option for a third season.
