Mont Ripley Tubing Park Offers More Winter Fun

Tubing ParkWinter in the Copper Country means skiing and snowboarding for most, but Mont Ripley’s new tubing park adds an option that’s both thrilling and skill-free.

The park features 500 feet of groomed tubing runs. The 4 lanes allow tubers to race down the hill at speeds averaging an estimated 30 miles per hour.

Mont Ripley Operations Manager, Kevin McClellan, says the park is for everyone regardless of age or experience level.

McClellan said, “There’s some people more daring than others and they’ll run and jump into their tube. And there are people that a little bit more timid and they’ll walk up and start their slide slowly. And then of course we’ve got people that want to go in groups and of course that’s a blast as well because you get to see each other’s faces.”

The tubing park has been popular as an outing for family and friends or a break for skiers and snowboarders. The park is currently open during daylight hours on weekends, but there are plans to add evening options next season.

McClellan said, “On Saturdays we go from noon-6, and on Sunday we go from 11-5. Next year we will be putting lighting on the tubing park, so that will give us a wider variety of options. And anytime for a party of 10-20, we will open the park at just about any time during daylight hours. Just give us 24 hours notice and we’ll make sure it happens for you.”
