Did Flint's Lead-Tainted Water Cause Miscarriages?

The pediatrician who exposed high lead levels in Flint children is now looking into whether the city’s lead-tainted water caused pregnant women to miscarry.

Doctor Mona Hanna-Attisha of Flint’s Hurley Medical Center and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services told MLive the research has already begun, but it’s too early to draw any conclusions.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, too much lead in a pregnant woman’s body puts her at risk for miscarriage and can also cause developmental problems in the child.

State, local and federal officials, last month, urged pregnant woman and young children to stop using even filtered water until it is tested for lead.
