A state lawmaker is accusing the governor of caring more about his public image than the health of Flint residents, following allegations Governor Rick Snyder withheld lead-test results.
Emails obtained through Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by the Flint Journal suggest the governor ordered the Department of Environmental Quality to withhold test results of water in some Flint schools until a press conference was held.
State Senator Coleman Young says that the public had to learn about this through FOIA requests is an example that the governor isn’t being transparent.
He says Snyder needs to be more interested in serving the people than trying to spin the crisis.
Snyder’s office denies the governor ordered a state agency to withhold lead-testing information.
