Calumet High School Named Academic Champion By Bridge Magazine

The CLK School Board has a lot to celebrate.

At their regular monthly meeting, the board congratulated the students and district staff on being named an Academic Champion by Bridge Magazine.

The publication’s annual high school rankings were released on Tuesday.

Bridge ranked 770 high schools statewide and recognized the top five percent as Academic Champions.

Calumet High School ranked number 27 overall in the state.

The board also congratulated Calumet High School Senior Rosemary Torola for receiving the 2016 Michigan Affiliate winner of the National Center for Women and Information Technology Award for Aspirations in Computing.

Rosemary was just one of 32 young women selected from the state and will be recognized on March 5th at Michigan State University.

Some grant money will be going to provide more opportunities for CLK students.

Just over $1,000 from DonorsChoose.org will help elementary students with hands-on, multi-sensory, and visually stimulating learning environments in the sensory and general education classrooms.

$420 from Upper Peninsula Environmental Education will offset costs for a field trip to Brockway Mountain for high school art students to study and paint raptors during the birds migratory stopover in the Keweenaw.
