At the heart of what the Portage Health Foundation does, is investing in health care, health research, and health education.
“We believe there is an enormity of opportunity for young people,” said Kevin Store, Executive Director of the PHFoundation. “By helping to provide access to higher education opportunities, we can help meet the diverse health needs of our communities by inspiring our next generation of professionals to become scientists, researchers, and doctors who can address and solve some of our most challenging health care problems.”
Sharing this belief, Michigan Tech and the PHFoundation have partnered to offer the Portage Health Foundation Making a Difference Scholarship.
Four high school seniors or transfer students who are residents of Baraga, Houghton, Keweenaw, or Ontonagon County will receive an $8,000 annual scholarship to attend Michigan Tech in the fall of 2016 and pursue a degree in pre-health, health sciences, or health engineering programs. The scholarship will be renewable for up to four years (eight semesters) of study.
Michigan Tech will be hosting an information session about the Portage Health Foundation Making a Difference Scholarship on Wednesday, February 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Michigan Tech Admissions Office’s McAllister Welcome Center in the Memorial Union Building.
Attendees will receive details about the scholarship, the application process, eligibility criteria, and requirements for renewal as well as have the opportunity to connect with current students in diverse health-related degree programs.
To attend this event, please call Angela Bouman, Assistant Director of Admissions, at 906-487-1855 to register by Monday, February 8. For more information about the scholarship, please visit: http://www.mtu.edu/admissions/phf/.
