Every year, the business community in the Keweenaw honors those who make a difference.
Reservations are being taken for the 4th Annual Keweenaw Community Spark Plug Awards Dinner, being held at the Siskiwit Reception Hall & Conference Center in Calumet on Thursday, February 11th.
Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce President Brian Donnelly said, “It’s a classy affair where we’re celebrating those people that are doing big things in our community, that are putting themselves out there, are working long hours, and this is a special time where we recognize them and give them a well-deserved round of applause.”
The awards are chosen by a joint committee of the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, the Keweenaw Economic Development Alliance, MTEC Smartzone, Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Keweenaw Young Professionals.
The six categories for the Spark Plug Awards are Growth, Community Development, Young Professional of the Year, Person/Project of The Year, Transformation/Innovation and Customer Service/Quality/Teamwork.
Donnelly said, “They’re creating jobs in our area. They’re making capital investments in our town. Some of the past award winners are simply people that are growing events or projects in our community, volunteering their own time—all across the board, these are people who are putting the hours, investment and drive into growing our Copper Country community.”
Organizers ask that those planning on attending the event, RSVP through the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce by this Friday.
