Shipping Down On Great Lakes

Shipping overall on the Great Lakes was down 25 percent on a 5 year average according to the shipping industry.

Mark Gill with the U.S. Coast Guard in Sault Ste. Marie says that’s not good news for the Great Lakes economy.

Gill says while ore shipments will continue between Escanaba and Detroit for the next month, iron ore shipments in 2015 were down 8.5 percent according to the Lake Carriers’ Association.
