Construction has begun on Mackinaw City’s first gambling casino.
The casino is classified as Class 2, which does not allow blackjack, craps or roulette.
The Mackinaw City Village Council rejected a proposal for a Class 3 license.
Class 2 licenses do allow bingo, pull-tabs, and similar games.
The casino will not have house-banked card games or slot machines.
Card games that are not banked by the house will be allowed at the casino, being built by the Little Traverse Bay Band of Odawa Indians.
It will be located about a mile south of the city.
The casino should be completed in May.
