In boys basketball last night…
– Hancock beat Jeffers 62-48.
– Calumet defeated Baraga 59-51.
– Lake Linden-Hubbell remained unbeaten with an 84-48 victory over Republic-Michigamme. See video highlights from the game here.
– Ewen-Trout Creek remained unbeaten by beating Wakefield-Marenisco 70-44.

MTU
Michigan Tech forward Brent Baltus has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week. Baltus had two goals and an assist in Tech’s two games at the Great Lakes Invitational Tournament, including the game-winning shot in overtime against Michigan State.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s hockey team skates at Wisconsin-Superior tonight.
NHL
Petr Mrazek made 22 saves as the Detroit Red Wings blanked the New Jersey Devils 1-0 last night. Rookie Dylan Larkin scored the game’s only goal. The Wings skate at San Jose Thursday night. Face-off is at 10:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
NBA
The Detroit Pistons shut down the Orlando Magic 115-89 last evening. Detroit led by 13 at the end of the third quarter, then held Orlando to just 15 points in the fourth quarter to put the game away. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 21 points for Detroit. Andre Drummond added 17 points and 12 rebounds, and Brandon Jennings scored 17 in his fourth game since returning from his Achilles injury. The Pistons play at Boston tomorrow night. Tip-off is at 7:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.
Nordic Skiing
The Freestyle Sprint competition was held yesterday at the 2016 U.S. Cross Country Ski Championships. You can see full results here.
The Freestyle distance events will be held Thursday, and the Classic sprints on Saturday.
