If you can’t make it to Lansing for a tour of the State Capitol Building, virtual tours are now available on the website www.capitol.michigan.gov.
Michigan Capitol Commission member John Truscott says the online tour is the first for any state Capitol created using Google’s Streetview technology.
It is in the process of being integrated with 360-degree YouTube videos and an interactive, 3-D tour of the governor’s office.
Truscott says the virtual tour is not only a fun experience, it’s highly educational, since items such as artwork in the building are clickable for specific information.
The virtual tour is now up, but the complete tour from the outside through the inside won’t be available until the spring.
