CLK Schools To "Give Drugs The Boot"

CLK Schools are looking to “Give Drugs The Boot”.

That’s the theme for this year’s drug awareness event, which is a Boot Hockey Tournament.

The CLK Board of Education heard a presentation at Tuesday’s meeting from Calumet High School SADD Chapter Co-Presidents Rosie Torola and Claire Haapala, along with their Advisor Susan Rosemurgy.

The group recently received a grant from the Keweenaw Community Foundation’s Youth Advisory Council for $500.

The tournament will be held in February.

In other business, the board congratulated members of the varsity volleyball team, along with their Coach Lisa Twardzik, on their season.

Twardzik was named WestPAC Coach of the Year and Janie Torola was named WestPAC All Conference Player of the Year.

The board also set tuition rates for non-resident students attending CLK Schools for the 2015-2016 school year and accepted the 2014-2015 audit report prepared by Paul R, Sturos, CPA.

The board’s next regular meeting is scheduled for January 12th.
