University of Michigan researchers are reporting some good news Wednesday regarding drug use among American teenagers.
The news is contained in the results of the latest national survey from the U of M “Monitoring the Future” series.
It says the use of both alcohol and cigarettes have reached their lowest points since the study began in 1975.
And the use of particularly dangerous illegal drugs, such as heroin, amphetamines and synthetic marijuana also showed a decline.
Marijuana use remained level.
The study tracks trends in substance use by surveying more than 40,000 8th, 10th and 12th graders each year across the country.
The study is now in its 41st year.
