The Michigan Tech Athletics Department is warning potential advertisers of a scam that is currently making the rounds.
Several people have received contact from an unnamed company stating they represent MTU Athletics.
The scammer offers advertisement opportunities at athletic events being held off campus.
The Athletics department will never ask you to advertise in other cities or states, as advertising proceeds benefit the Athletic and Recreation Department.
If you receive a call like this, Michigan Tech asks that you gather as much information as you can about the caller, and let the university know immediately.
Until the university has proof of who created the scam, they have no way to address the issue.
