As holiday travelers hit the road to get to those Thanksgiving destinations, they’re seeing some pretty agreeable prices at the pump and can expect about the same on the return trip.
Currently gas prices are averaging below $2 a gallon in Michigan, almost 25 cents below last week.
Patrick DeHaan of Gasbuddy.com says he expects prices will remain below two dollars over the next couple months.
He attributes the lower cost to low oil prices, the end of the refinery maintenance season, and a seasonal dip in gasoline demand.
DeHaan says there could be some bumps in price as holiday travelers get on the road, but they should stay below $2 a gallon.
The last time the state average was under $2 a gallon was on January 5th.
