State Launches Website for Aging Drivers

The state is launching a new website designed to help Michigan’s aging drivers.

Secretary of State (SOS) Ruth Johnson says the Safe Drivers Smart Options website is designed to provide resources to aging drivers and their families to keep those drivers on the road as long as possible, but to also know when to give up the keys.

Johnson says the site also provides contacts to healthcare and law enforcement personnel and other caregiver professionals to help evaluate whether an aging driver should have some driving restrictions.

Johnson says the website will save lives and make Michigan roads safer.
Michigan has more than 1.3 million drivers age 65 or older.

The new website is at www.michigan.gov/agingdriver.
