MLB: Tigers Fall in 10th
The Tigers’ six-game winning streak ended Monday night with a 5-4, 10-inning loss to the Indians. Detroit had rallied to force extra innings when pinch-hitter J.D. Martinez homered off Cleveland closer Cody Allen in the ninth. Michael Brantley answered with a two-out, walk-off homer off Al Alburquerque in the 10th. Victor Martinez also homered for Detroit. The Tigers continue that series at Cleveland tonight. Justin Verlander will face Trevor Bauer. Hear the first pitch at 7:05 on AM 1400, WCCY.

Brewers Sunk by Big Inning
The Braves scored five runs in the eighth inning, to complete a 9-3 victory over the Brewers Monday night. The outburst against Wei-Chung Wang came after Ryan Braun homer had cut Atlanta’s lead to a single run. Khris Davis also homered for Milwaukee. The Brewers continue that series at Atlanta tonight. Yovani Gallardo will pitch against Julio Teheran.

CC Slowpitch League Opens Play
Only two scores were reported from the opening night of play in the Copper Country Slowpitch League Monday night. Osmose beat 906/Pilgrim River 22-7. Pat’s Foods/ThermoAnalytics outslugged Auto Value 20-14. Follow the Copper Country Slowpitch League here.

Drake to Coach Patriots
Former MTU assistant basketball coach Rae Drake has been named the new head coach of the Westwood boys varsity hoops team. Drake coached the West Iron County boys before joining the Huskies’ staff… where he worked for both Kevin Luke and Kim Cameron for six seasons.
