A college student is facing charges after allegedly making a post on a social media website threatening to shoot every black person on the Saginaw Valley State University campus.
SVSU police say 21-year-old Emmanuel Bowden is charged with making a false report or threat of terrorism, a felony with a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison.
According to police, Bowden, a Delta Community College student living in SVSU housing, posted the message on the social media site Yik Yak early Friday morning.
Bowden later posted that he was joking, that he was black and he wanted to see how people would react.
University police and the FBI investigated the post and Bowden was picked up on an unrelated warrant.
He remains jailed on a $10,000 or 10 percent bond in the Yik Yak case.
Bowden is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in district court December 3rd.
Last week a similar threat was reportedly made on the same site against black students at Michigan Tech University in Houghton.
21-year-old Matthew Shultz of Norway was charged with Disturbing the Peace, a 90-day misdemeanor in that case.
