The 20th-ranked Michigan Tech hockey team shut out 15th-rated Bowling Green 2-0 Friday night. Cliff Watson scored his first goal of the season just 22 seconds into the first period. Matt Roy added an insurance tally late in the third period. Jamie Phillips stopped 22 shots in goal. The Huskies host the Falcons again tonight. Faceoff is at 7:07 at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena.
The Tech volleyball team dropped a 3-2 (23-25, 25-17, 25-16, 18-25, 10-15) decision at Northwood Friday night. The Huskies finish their regular season at Lake Superior State this afternoon.
The Huskies football team closes its season this afternoon at Lake Erie.
The Tech women’s basketball team begins its season this afternoon at home against Taylor Dillinger and the Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs. Tip-off is at 2:00 at the SDC.

The Wildcats football team concludes its season at Findlay this afternoon.
The NMU women’s basketball team opens its season at the GLVC-GLIAC Challenge in Quincy, Illinois. They’ll face Quincy tonight, and take on Truman State University from Missouri tomorrow afternoon.
Finlandia
The Finlandia University men’s hockey team took a 3-0 lead into the third period, but wound up in a 3-3 tie with Concordia-Wisconsin Friday night. Alex Holm, Alex Rezansoff and Thomas Malkmus scored for the Lions, who skate at Concordia again this afternoon.
The women’s team lost 9-0 at Lake Forest College Friday afternoon. The Foresters outshot the Lions 46-5. Finlandia plays at Concordia-Wisconsin this afternoon.
The Lions football team travels all the way to Cincinnati for a game against Mount St. Joseph University today.
Finlandia has a new softball coach. Katherine Hannagan was an award-winning pitcher at Olivet Nazarene University. She spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach at the University of St. Francis, which won 35 games and earned an NCAA tournament berth last season. Find out more about her here.

The Detroit Red Wings outshot the San Jose Sharks 28-14 Friday night, but lost the game 3-2. Tomas Tatar scored early for the Wings, who then gave up three unanswered goals. Teemu Pulkkinen made it close when he found the net with less than two minutes remaining. Jimmy Howard suffered the loss in goal. Pavel Datsyuk had four shots, but no points, in his first game since undergoing ankle surgery last summer. The Red Wings fly to Boston to face the Bruins tonight. Faceoff is at 7:00 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3, WCCY.

The Detroit Pistons visit the Los Angeles Clippers this afternoon. Tip-off is at 3:30 on AM 1400 and FM 99.3 WCCY.
