A new study of state ethics and transparency laws and safeguards, shows Michigan tied for dead last.
The Center for Public Integrity and Global Integrity study say Michigan is last because of a weak public records law, and an absence of laws requiring personal financial disclosures by top elected and appointed state officials.
Michigan is one of 11 states with “F” grades. Only one state got a “C” grade that was Alaska.
All other states were below “C.”
The organizations conducting the study are nonprofits that promote government transparency and ethics.
