Details of the agreement between the city of Marquette and Lundin Mining covering anticipated truck traffic in the city from the Eagle Mine in Northern Marquette County have been released. According to the agreement, Lundin will financially compensate the city for wear and tear and maintenance of city roads used as a haul route between their facilities. The proposed agreement outlines the traffic route as along County Road 550 to Sugarloaf Avenue and along Wright Street. The agreement includes a payment schedule for Lundin of $500,000 per year for the length of the agreement for city road maintenance and upkeep as well as $200,000 annually for safety improvements along the route. The agreement is scheduled to go into effect on September 1st.
