There has been another sighting of a cougar in the Upper Peninsula. That brings the number of sightings in the U.P. since 2008, to 31.
The most recent report was in mid-September in Dickinson County, according to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.

They say there is no evidence of a breeding population, however.
The DNR’s Kevin Swanson says they’ve been investigating numerous sightings over the past decade, although the situation is not unique to Michigan.
All of Michigan’s DNR-verified cougar reports have been in the U.P.
A dozen of the U.P.’s 15 counties have had reports, according to Swanson.
