If you pass by a Michigan State Police post, be sure to tell them Happy Birthday because this week they are celebrating their 97th birthday. To honor the milestone, Governor Rick Snyder has declared this week Michigan State Police History Week. The MSP’s roots date back to World War One when the department began as a temporary, wartime emergency force for the purpose of domestic security. MSP Director Colonel Kristie Kibbey Etue says they will be reflecting on history and traditions as well as recommitting to serving the public.
