An Ishpeming man will stand trial for running a bogus fundraiser.
40-year-old Scott Martin was bound over to Marquette County Circuit Court for trial last week on a charge of violating the state’s Charitable Solicitation Act. He faces a possible five years in prison if found guilty. Authorities say Martin made T-Shirts in October of 2012 to honor Bubba Croley, a 13-year-old boy who was killed by a drunk driver in Wisconsin. The “Bubba Shirts” were sold for $15 each, and ten of the dollars were supposed to go to the Bubba Croley Foundation but the family never got the money. Martin is free on bond. He’ll be arraigned in Circuit Court April 25.
