CALUMET – State Representative Scott Dianda (D- Calumet) will attend a bridge naming dedication on Saturday, September 5th at 3p.m. EST at the bridge located on highway M-64 over the Ontonagon River in Ontonagon Township to honor and recognize Ontonagon County veterans. Dianda’s HB 5715, now Public Act 498 of 2014, names the bridge in Ontonagon Township the Ontonagon County Veterans Memorial Bridge. Dianda will present the Ontonagon County Veterans’ Association with a framed keepsake which includes a photograph from the bill signing ceremony, bill signing pen, and signed bill copy.
“Naming this bridge in honor of our veterans is the best way of publicly recognizing their service and showing visitors to our community our appreciation of them. But our work on behalf of our veterans doesn’t stop here. I will continue working with my colleagues and the veterans of House District 110 to pass legislation that meets the needs of our veterans and their families,” said Dianda.
Dianda introduced the bill last session following a recommendation from the Ontonagon County Veterans’ Association, which has been in operation for 10 years.
