Net Metering Hearings Winding Down

A Michigan Senate committee is close to winding down testimony on a proposal to change Michigan’s net metering law, which provides incentives to those with solar energy panels who also sell energy back to utilities.

The proposal lowers the amount the solar providers get in exchange for the energy.

The Senate Energy and Technology committee heard there hours of testimony on Wednesday.

One more hearing is scheduled, when the governor’s energy agency director will testify.

The net metering proposal is part of a larger energy reform effort in the Michigan Legislature.
