August 25, 2015 — A safety test on the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge involving fire department equipment and staff has been postponed until Wednesday. The tests had originally been slated for this morning.

If you are headed east across the International Bridge in Sault Ste. Marie tomorrow, don’t be alarmed if you see fire trucks on the bridge.

There will be fire department equipment and staff on the bridge to conduct a safety exercise and are scheduled to be on the bridge deck beginning at 8:15 a.m.

They will be working with International Bridge staff to evaluate the feasibility of using a ladder truck for assisting in the event a person becomes disabled and must be helped down from the higher parts of the bridge arch.

The tests are expected to last until midmorning.

During the tests, one lane of traffic will be maintained under flag control.
