Stabenow Opposes Lake Huron Nuclear Waste Dump Site

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow is calling on the State Department to invoke the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909 to prevent Canada from building a nuclear waste dump near the Lake Huron shore.

Stabenow has introduced legislation mandating the International Joint Commission study the risks to the Great Lakes of the proposed waste site.

Congressman Dan Kildee of Flint is sponsoring a companion bill in the House.
