MLB – Tigers Hit by Homers
The Detroit Tigers were held to just four hits last night, as they lost to the Kansas City Royals 6-1. Anibal Sanchez was burned by home runs again, giving up a two-run shot to Eric Hosmer in the first inning, and homers to Lorenzo Cain and Mike Moustakas before leaving in the sixth.

Miguel Cabrera ran the bases and worked out at first base yesterday. If his strained calf muscle feels alright today, he’ll work out again, and could be back in the Detroit lineup as early as this weekend.
Taylor Jungmann didn’t make it through the third inning, as the Milwaukee Brewers fell to the Chicago Cubs 6-3 yesterday. Jungmann was charged with four runs, and took the loss. Tyler Thornburg gave up the other two runs in the fourth inning. Adam Lind hit a two-run homer for Milwaukee.
The Brewers continue that series in Chicago tonight. Matt Garza will pitch against Jason Hammel.
Milwaukee is looking for a new general manager. Doug Melvin announced yesterday that he’s stepping down after nearly 13 seasons with the club. He’ll remain with the organization as an advisor.
Twilight League Finals – Wolverine Takes Game One
Dean Kangas State Farm looked as if they would be traveling home to wrap up the Twilight League championship, but a three-run rally in the bottom of the final inning put Wolverine-Orbit into the driver’s seat Tuesday night, winning 4-3 at Wolverine Field.
Wolverine-Orbit started the scoring in the second as Luke Paul reached on an error, stole second, and scored on a Jose Gomez single.
Dean Kangas tied it in the fourth as Kyle Storm reached on an error, advancing on an error, and then came home on Jay Daavettila’s single.
Then the Dollar Bay team looked to possibly steal a victory in the top of the sixth Daavetilla led off with a triple and came home on single from Owen Kariniemi. Kariniemi then scored to make it 3-1 with just six outs left.
An error and a walk to start the final at bat for Wolverine-Orbit put two on and were sacrificed to scoring position. Bryce Johnson tied the contest at three with a single. Johnson moved to second on a passed ball and then scored the winner with Chris Turinen’s walk-off single with two out.
Mike Saari, who came in to relieve in the sixth received the win, Dave Wessa pitched a complete game in the loss.
Game two will be held tonight (a change in the schedule) at the Hancock Driving Park, selected by the Dean Kangas team as their home park for the championship and will be heard on KBear 102 at 6:20. Game three, if necessary, will be played back in Kearsarge Thursday night.
