Bill to Change Teacher Evaluations Could be Changed

A measure that would change the way teachers and school administrators are evaluated in Michigan may finally move out of a House committee this fall.

The bill has already passed the Senate but has seemingly stalled in a House committee where it’s been picked through over several hearings.

State Representative Amanda Price chairs the House Education Committee and says the bill will be changed before it’s voted out of committee.

She wouldn’t say what the changes are.

Price calls the legislation a good step towards bettering teaching in Michigan.

The bill goes against an evaluation model recommended by a statewide panel, a model the governor supports.
