Beer is a big seller in Michigan according to a study released by a pair of groups representing beer distributors.
It shows beer sales have a $6.6 billion economic impact on the state.
And the boom in the number of craft brewers in Michigan is having a trickle-down effect too, according to Michigan Brewers Guild President Scott Graham.
He says when a new brewery or brewpub is built it creates construction jobs.
There’s also a company in Michigan that makes brewing equipment for both brewers here and across the country.
And then there’s farmers, who are growing hops and malted barley.
The state ranked 8th in total jobs and 14th in economic output in 2014, according to the Beer Institute and National Beer Wholesalers Association study.
