A public policy research group in Michigan thinks the state’s constitution could use some spring cleaning.
The Citizens Research Council of Michigan found several sections that no longer apply or are outdated and wants them removed.
For instance, one states marriage is only between a man and a woman.
That section was nixed by a U-S Supreme Court ruling last month lifting the ban on same-sex marriage.
Another section says the voting age in Michigan is 21, not 18.
The group says lawmakers should approve a resolution this fall to place a question before voters next November to see if they think Michigan’s constitution should be cleaned up.
