Beware the bears — that’s the warning from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources.
The DNR has received 170 nuisance complaints from people in northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula so far this year.
It’s mating season, so adult bears are on the move and younger bears are too — looking for their own territory.
The DNR doesn’t trap bears but would consider it if a bear is damaging property after people have taken down bird feeders and removed other food sources — or is acting aggressive.
