Painesdale Woman Injured In Weekend Boating Accident

A Painesdale woman is injured following a boat accident on Sunday.

The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at a dock belonging to a residence on Rocky Shores Road in Stanton Township around 5:45 in the afternoon.

Officials say 55-year-old Kevin Geshel from Painesdale was trying to maneuver his 16 foot boat into a friend’s dock on the Portage Canal and struck the end of the dock.

The impact caused the front of the boat to become lodged under the end of the dock where his wife, 53-year-old Lori Geshel, was seated.

She was transported from the scene by Mercy Ambulance to U.P. Health System—Portage and was later flown to U.P. Health System—Marquette for treatment of her injuries.

Her condition was not reported.
