Vanhaecke Stands Mute On B&E Charges

A South Range man accused of breaking into a camp appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court.

49-year-old Camiel Bryce Vanhaecke is charged with 2nd Degree Home Invasionn a 15 year felony and possession of burglar’s tools, a 10 year felony.

Vanhaecke stood mute to both charges so a “Not Guilty” plea was entered on his behalf by the court.

The charges stem from an incident last month regarding a break-in at a seasonal residence in Duncan Township.

Vanhaeke was arrested shortly after.

He is currently being held on a $250,000 cash bond.

Vanhaecke’s girlfriend, 31-year-old Leah Harding, disappeared in late April and hasn’t been seen since.

Vanhaecke is considered a person of interest but has not been charged in her disappearance.

He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing in about four weeks.
