Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill into law which stops funding of the state’s much talked about film incentive program.
Critics of the incentives say they’re a waste of taxpayer money and economic benefits of the program have been overstated.
Supporters of the incentives disagree, saying a healthy film industry is good for the state, and other states still use incentives to attract movie making.
Senate Republican leader Arlan Meekhof says however that the Michigan Economic Development Corporation could still assume the film office operations within their existing resources.
